Biography

David Krane joined Google in 2000 as employee number 84, rising to lead the company's global communications and public affairs group during its transformation into a multibillion-dollar enterprise. He helped establish Google Ventures in 2009 and became a General Partner in 2010, bringing an unusual communications-and-PR background rather than a traditional finance pedigree to venture investing. He personally led GV's landmark $258 million investment in Uber, which he has described as a 'relentless pursuit' of the founder, alongside early bets on Nest Labs, HomeAway, and Blue Bottle Coffee. Krane became CEO and Managing Partner of GV in 2016, succeeding founding CEO Bill Maris, and now oversees more than $13 billion in assets across roughly 400 active portfolio companies.
