Biography

Byron Deeter built and sold his own cloud-computing company, Trigo Technologies, to IBM before returning to venture capital in 2005 to help lead Bessemer's global cloud practice. Since then, he has backed more than 100 cloud companies, 13 of which have gone public - including Twilio, DocuSign, Box, HashiCorp, and SendGrid - and co-authored Bessemer's widely cited 'Ten Laws of Cloud Computing' along with the firm's annual State of the Cloud report. His early, contrarian bet on Twilio in 2010, when the company was widely dismissed as a niche tool with a small market, became one of the defining cloud investments of the decade after its 2016 IPO.
