Norrsken22 was founded in January 2022 by Niklas Adalberth, the Klarna co-founder behind the Norrsken Foundation, and Hans Otterling, a partner at Northzone, built specifically to close a gap the founders identified in African venture capital: real abundance at pre-seed and seed, but a genuine shortage of growth-stage capital for companies ready to scale past Series A. The firm allocates roughly half its capital to new Series A and B deals and the rest to follow-on investment in later rounds, run by a team with decades of combined experience investing across the continent, including Managing Partner Natalie Kolbe, formerly global head of private equity at Actis. Norrsken22 closed its debut $205 million African Tech Growth Fund in November 2023, above its $200 million target, backed by more than 30 unicorn founders including Flutterwave's Olugbenga Agboola and Skype's Niklas Zennström.
No confirmed exit yet - Norrsken22's five investments (TymeBank, Sabi, Smile Identity, Autochek, Shara) all remain private, still-growing companies since the fund only launched in 2022
