Global Brain describes itself as an independent venture capital firm that aims to bring new industries to society through hands-on support for startups and open innovation with large corporations. Alongside its own flagship fund series, the firm states that it manages corporate venture capital funds and co-investment vehicles on behalf of Japanese corporates as general partner, naming among others KDDI, Mitsui Fudosan, Sony Financial Ventures, Yamato Holdings, SEIKO EPSON, The Norinchukin Bank, Kirin Holdings, JGC Group, Mitsubishi Electric, TOKYU CONSTRUCTION, Mitsui Chemicals, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, Shimadzu Corporation, Fukoku Mutual Life Insurance Company, SMBC Group, Canon Marketing Japan, Kyocera, ANA HOLDINGS, Niterra and TOHO HOLDINGS. It operates from Tokyo with further offices listed in Kyoto, San Francisco, New York, London, Berlin, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Seoul and Singapore.
