EPIC Ventures is an early-stage venture firm investing primarily at Series A across the IT stack, ecommerce, consumer applications and security. Its site says the firm has "roots in Silicon Valley" and describes a "mission for two decades" of partnering with entrepreneurs at early stages and bringing capital outside the Bay Area (the firm's own claim). It invests nationally with an emphasis on companies outside Silicon Valley, and names Instructure, Mozy and Signal among its portfolio.
The firm is founded by Zions Bank as Wasatch Venture Fund, described by the Deseret News as "a primarily local, Utah-centric firm when it was founded by Zions Bank in 1994".
2007
On 1 December 2007 the Deseret News reports that Wasatch Venture has changed its name to EPIC Ventures, the change presented as reflecting the firm's growth from a Utah-centric fund into a regional one.
