Cyberstarts

Cyberstarts was founded in 2018 by Gili Raanan, a former Sequoia Capital General Partner and two-time security-company founder, built around a distinctive 'Sunrise' methodology: rather than sourcing deals broadly, Cyberstarts partners with founding teams from day one, drawing on a network of enterprise security executives to identify unaddressed pain points before a product even exists. That model produced the single largest venture-backed exit in history - Cyberstarts partnered with Wiz on day one in 2019, and Google completed its $32 billion acquisition of the cloud security company in March 2026. The firm has raised more than $720 million across five funds and made 28 investments with a combined portfolio valuation exceeding $55 billion, representing more than half of the entire private cybersecurity market's value, though its executive-advisor profit-sharing program drew public scrutiny in 2024 over potential conflicts of interest and was subsequently suspended.
