Kleiner Perkins

Kleiner Perkins was founded in 1972 by Eugene Kleiner, a Fairchild Semiconductor co-founder, and Tom Perkins, a former Hewlett-Packard executive with degrees from MIT and Harvard. Joined shortly after by Frank Caufield and Brook Byers, the firm built its name on backing category-defining technology companies from their earliest days, including Genentech, Sun Microsystems, Netscape, Amazon, and Google. The firm's 1999 investment in Google alongside Sequoia Capital - writing what was then its largest check ever - remains one of the most celebrated bets in venture capital history.

Ribbit Capital

Micky Malka founded Ribbit Capital in 2012 after a career spent building brokerages and banks rather than software companies - he helped build Patagon.com, which Santander acquired in 2000, then co-founded Banco Lemon, later acquired by Banco do Brasil. That regulated-finance operating background, rather than a conventional Silicon Valley career arc, is what made Ribbit the premier financial-services specialist in venture capital, backing category leaders globally from a first $100 million fund in 2013. The firm's public messaging has since broadened well past 'fintech' into global commerce, money movement, identity, data, energy, AI, and wealth management, but the through-line is unchanged: Coinbase, Nubank, and Robinhood are all Ribbit bets, and its March 2026 Form ADV reports approximately $20.78 billion in regulatory assets under management.
