Full-time angel investor
Simon Blakey is a UK angel investor who has been investing since around 1999-2000. He studied biochemistry at the University of Birmingham and trained as a management accountant before moving into property development in west London in the late 1990s; he is co-founder and managing director of Avonmore Developments. ACF Investors describes him as having 'been an full-time angel investor for 20 years and backed over 35 businesses'; in a 2025 SyndicateRoom interview he says he has 'completed over 100 funding rounds across 50-60 investments' over 25 years and is still actively investing. He joined the board of Cambridge Angels in 2023, chairs the investment committee at Playfair Capital, and sits on the investment committee of the Angel CoFund. He also serves on the board of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music.
