Background

Michael Stoppelman is an angel investor and advisor and the former SVP of Engineering at Yelp, where he built the company's engineering organisation. Before Yelp he was an engineer at a pre-IPO Google. On the LA Venture podcast in March 2020 he described investing full-time as an angel, said he had made on the order of 140 angel investments, and explained that he funds each cheque half from his own money and half from scout money, keeping cheques small. He states he likes to invest in software and enterprise SaaS, with particular interest in the compliance and security spaces, and typically at the seed stage. He appears in SignalFire's Advisor Network, which notes that advisors are not employed by the firm.
