Barbara Clarke is a Boston-based angel investor who began investing in 2013 after a career in management consulting at KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked on intellectual property valuations. The Boston Globe reported in 2022 that she had put several million dollars into about 60 companies plus 15 funds that invest in women entrepreneurs, and her first three cheques ranged from 5,000 to 10,000 US dollars. She is a founding member of Astia Angels and a Pipeline Angels alumna, and she leads and co-leads deals for Portfolia's Rising Tide, Enterprise and FirstStep funds. In 2015 she co-founded The Impact Seat with Teresa Nelson, a consulting and research firm, and she is Founder and Board Chair of The Impact Seat Foundation, a Boston nonprofit combining impact investing, grantmaking and advocacy. She holds a B.A. in quantitative economics from Tufts University and an M.A. in international economics and finance from Brandeis University.
